RSPCA Sheffield Half-Marathon!!!!!

I am not a runner. I have never run (even for a bus before) and I definitely do not enjoy it!! But this year I shall be running Sheffield Half-Marathon on 26th April 2009! It's not easy training (and won't be easier on the day!) but I'm determined to get round and raise money for RSPCA Sheffield Animal Centre! I have been working here as the fundraiser since November and love every minute of it - it's just such a worthwhile cause but we really do need YOUR help! We opened the doors to our brand new Centre in Attercliffe on 17th November 2008 after construction to the inner ring road forced the closure of the old Branch at Spring Street. It's great to be here but the work is by no means complete and we need to raise another £1 million to complete the build. Sheffield is the worst place in the country for animal neglect and cruelty and if we can raise £250,000 we would be able to build a learning and advice Centre to provide advice on responsible pet ownership, key to improving animal welfare in the area. We also want to raise the funds to build a larger clinic where we can provide reduced-cost veterinary assistance to people on low incomes.

We are estimating that it'll cost us £1500 a day to run the Centre - so you can see that every penny we receive we really are grateful for!!!

£4 buys 1 microchip for a cat or dog, ensuring they can be quickly reunited with their owner if they go missing
£5 will pay to keep an abandoned or unwanted cat warm fed and cared for a day at the Centre
£8 will keep an unwanted or abandoned dog warm fed and exercised for a day at the Centre
£30 will neuter 1 cat, ensuring the population of unwanted animals is kept under control
